Private Pilots Licence (PPL)

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requires a minimum of 45 hours training, including some solo flying, to obtain your Private Pilots Licence (PPL).  Flying time can be spread over short or longer periods as required.

There are 2 ways of paying, by the hour or taking advantage of the discounted pre-payment scheme.  The latter being the most popular, as shown by the list of items included, which are otherwise payable:

  • Pooley’s CB-5 Kneeboard
  • 9” Ruler
  • Protractor
  • PPL Log Book
  • Pilot Flight Case
  • Membership of Old Sarum Flying Club
  • Loan of headset

Payable by 3 instalments

If you require further training hours these can be paid for at a discounted rate as long as your account remains in credit.

The price does not include payments to some third parties namely:

  • Medical Examiner’s Fee
  • CAA Examiner’s Skills Test Fee
  • CAA Radio Examiner’s Fee
  • CAA Licence Issue Fee

As a part of your PPL you will need to complete an RT course. The course can be held in house including the Exam.

Please call in and see us for a cup of tea or coffee and speak with our Operations staff or an Instructor who will be able to explain the PPL in more detail.  We will also take the opportunity to show you our aircraft and answer any more questions you may have.
